PEAK LENIN, KYGYZSTAN
Lenin Peak (7,134m), on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, is often called the “easiest” 7,000m mountain. Yet each year, only around 10-20% of climbers reach the summit, and roughly 15 serious incidents occur every summer.
Following the tragic loss of a respected guide in 2022, the Slava Topol Project (STP) was founded to bring structured medical care, rescue capability, and preventative safety in the mountains.
In its first operational season, two high-altitude clinics were established at 3,600m and 4,300m, providing treatment to 124 patients. From minor injuries to life-threatening high altitude illnesses.
This project’s long-term aim is a sustainable, locally led system that supports climbers and local workers for years to come.
